The upside is you control quality, size, shape, fragrances and color of your candles. EVERYTHING! The downside is that you have to KEEP UP WITH PRODUCTION as well as all the other aspects of running your business. Don't let this frighten you (and I am not trying to rain on anyone's parade) but...
Don't underestimate the time it takes to manufacture a product or product line.Once you establish a demand for your products you'll be committed to making them day in and day out, week after week, month after month, all year round. Once you begin, I want to see you succeed so... Only commit to making your own candles if... Your business is going to be an extra income earner. Basically starting a candle business as a way to pay for your candle making hobby.
You are an experienced chandler and know what's involved in mass producing candles. Especially during the Holiday Season.

It's very important to take your time. Don't rush. It takes plenty of time and money to develop and test your product. Test! Test! Test! The worst thing you could do after going to all the effort of starting a candle business is to sell a sub-standard product. If it doesn't burn right, doesn't smell like it should or is unsafe you are just asking for trouble. I know if you decide to make your own soy candles you'll have fun with it and do it safely.
