Candle Making Fragrance Oil & Your Hot Wax!

Always add Candle making fragrance oil at 180º F. candle making fragrance oil

Wax melts between 120º and 150º and it seems like common sense to add your candle fragrance oil at the lowest possible temperature to keep it from dispersing before burning.

However this is WRONG. Especially with an essential oil soy candle. Experiments have shown that best temperature to add candle fragrance to your melted wax is 180º

Various waxes were tested (including soy wax and paraffin) adding the candle fragrance oil at 165º and at 180º. In all cases the candles gave off better scent (both cold and burning) when the oil was added at 180º.

So, to insure you get the best soy candle fragrance, be sure to get yourself a good thermometer. A candy or meat thermometer will work just fine.
